On the 26th, a video titled “Speaking about the controversial part” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Banggane.’ In the video, Mir shared his position regarding the recent controversy.
Mir mentioned, “I’ve been criticized for gaining weight, shaving my head, and getting tattoos while doing YouTube. At the time, I wondered if those were things to be criticized for,” but added, “This time, I’m the one who deserves to be scolded.”
He explained, “I don’t usually use formal terms like ‘mother-in-law’ or ‘father-in-law.’ I’ve been very close with them since I was dating (my wife). I usually call them ‘mother’ and ‘father’ or even by their names.” He added that his parents-in-law actually love this and talk about it whenever they drink.
He continued, “While filming the video, it suddenly felt awkward to call her ‘mother,’ but calling her by her name also felt a bit off. I should have said ‘jang-mo-nim,’ but in the moment, I just said ‘jang-mo.’ I deserve to be scolded for that, which is why I took the video down.”
His older sister, Go Eun-ah, who was beside him, added, “Every family has a different atmosphere and culture. I hope people aren’t too hard on him.”
Previously, on the 24th, Mir posted a video of an outing with his mother-in-law. During the video, he used expressions like “My jang-mo got me herbal medicine” and “My jang-mo makes a lot of money,” which some netizens pointed out as impolite phrasing. The video has since been deleted.
