On the morning of the 12th, the 4th trial was held at the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Guk-sik) for a man in his 30s, referred to as A, who is accused of robbery and injury against Nana and her mother.
Initially, two people, including the official who wrote the injury diagnosis for Nana and her mother, were scheduled to appear as witnesses, but they failed to show up.
The court stated, “It is currently unclear whether their appearance is difficult or if they simply will not attend,” adding, “While the request for the diagnosis as evidence will be maintained, we will request a factual inquiry from the hospital.”
Accordingly, the court decided to receive the results of the factual inquiry request regarding the diagnosis from the perpetrator A’s side within two days. Witness questioning is scheduled for the morning of the 19th. The court announced, “We will conduct the witness questioning on the 19th and make a final decision on that day.”
A was brought to trial on charges of breaking into Nana’s home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, around 6 AM on November 15 last year and attempting to steal money by threatening Nana and her mother with a weapon.
Notably, A filed a “counter-lawsuit” against Nana for attempted murder, claiming he was injured while being subdued by Nana and her mother. However, the police decided not to send the case to prosecution, ruling it as self-defense. In response, Nana’s side has filed a counter-suit against A for false accusation.
The sentencing date for A is scheduled for June 4.
