NEXZ has reached a new career high with their latest release, ‘Mmchk’!
The group, consisting of Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, So Geun, Seita, Hyui, and Yuki, dropped their second single ‘Mmchk’ on April 27.
Having participated in every track of the new album for their first comeback of the year, the members left a powerful impression over two weeks of music show performances. True to their reputation as a group of born dancers, they showcased exceptional performance skills, solid live vocals, and a delightful synergy between members.
They achieved a meaningful milestone by taking home their first-ever music show trophy on MBC every1 and MBC M’s ‘Show Champion’ with the title track ‘Mmchk’. After steadily growing as nominees for ‘O-RLY?’ and ‘Beat-Boxer’ last year, they finally claimed the coveted first-place title and celebrated the joy with their fans, NEX2Y.
NEXZ proved their presence as global rising stars with balanced success across digital charts, album sales, and overall buzz. The title track ‘Mmchk’ hit number one on the Bugs real-time chart on its release day, and by midnight on the 28th, ‘Mmchk’, ‘HYPEMAN’, and ‘Mmchk (English Version)’ all occupied the top three spots on the same chart.
According to Hanteo Chart, this second single recorded 444,730 copies in first-week sales, marking a massive 277% increase compared to their debut single ‘Ride the Vibe’ and setting a new personal record. They also topped the Circle Chart weekly retail album chart (April 26 to May 2). The ‘Mmchk’ music video surpassed 10 million views on YouTube within just two days and has continued its popularity, exceeding 40 million views as of the morning of May 11.
On the 10th, NEXZ released the music video for the second track ‘HYPEMAN’ on their official SNS channels to thank fans for their love. Featuring lyrics written by Yuki and Tomoya, such as “You’re my star and I am your Hype man, making your star shine even brighter,” the video features a cute point choreography where they draw stars, along with bubbly animations that showcase the group’s energetic charm.
With their passion and sincerity for the stage resonating with K-pop fans, NEXZ continues to grow rapidly. Riding the wave of this career high, they are gearing up for various activities, including the global showcase event ‘Mmchk : Not Typical’ starting in Taipei, their first arena tour, and a performance at the massive ‘Rock in Rio’ music festival in Brazil this September, marking their first time on such a huge festival stage.
