The ‘Miss Trot 4’ Top 7 are back! The veil has been lifted on their new spin-off, ‘Miss Trot For You,’ which promises to be different from any other spin-off we’ve seen.
A production presentation for ‘Miss Trot For You’ was held on the morning of the 13th at the TV Chosun Gasan Studio in Seoul. MC Boom, Ahn Sung-hoon, and the ‘Miss Trot’ TOP 7 (Jin Lee Sona, Seon Heo Chan-mi, Mi Hong Seong-yoon, Gil Ryeo-won, Yoon Tae-hwa, Yoon Yoon-seo, and Yeom Yu-ri) all attended the event.
‘Miss Trot For You’ is a spin-off variety show featuring a passionate and touching duet battle between the ‘Miss Trot’ TOP 7 and special partners. Get ready for a duet music show where the songs, chemistry, and prize money will all explode!
Lee Sona, the winner of ‘Miss Trot 4,’ opened up about the pressure of being the ‘Jin.’ She jokingly said, “Since I’m the Jin, I feel pressured to sing well for the non-celebrity participants.”
She continued with a smile, “Each of the Top 7 has so many strengths. I hope the charms of the Top 7 can be highlighted through this program. Also, I’m doing my best in hopes that I won’t be eliminated!”
Runner-up Heo Chan-mi shared her expectations for the non-celebrity participants. “We are selecting people who are truly great singers. Everyone interprets songs differently, so I think I can learn from the emotions my partner expresses,” she said. However, she added, “I’m nervous that they might actually be better singers than me. It made me realize I need to practice a lot.”
Third-place Hong Seong-yoon emphasized, “It’s a bit burdensome to enter another competition right after finishing one, but I believe my partner will do great.”
Heo Chan-mi added, “This is my first fixed program in 16 years since my debut. It feels brand new and I’m so excited. I’m always nervous and expectant about who my duet partner will be. I’ll prepare hard, so please look upon us kindly.”
Yoon Tae-hwa joked, “I made it into the Top 7 specifically because I wanted to appear in a spin-off program.” She hinted that the most attractive part of the show is being able to sing together with viewers who have lived their own diverse lives.
Yeom Yu-ri shared, “It feels fresh because it’s like being with family. It’s a program where you can feel more warmth than usual. I hope the viewers feel like we are family too.”
However, the production team emphasized that this program is still a competition. “The set atmosphere is cute and cozy, but once you open the package, it’s a full-on competition program. The Top 7 felt the same after the first recording. There are eliminations, first place, and last place. They are approaching it much more seriously,” they explained.
Boom and Ahn Sung-hoon shared their thoughts on being MCs for ‘Miss Trot For You.’ Boom confidently stated, “I felt great and refreshed after the first recording. You get that kind of energy when a recording goes well. I’ve had a lot of contact with non-celebrity participants since ‘Star King,’ and I really love it.”
He continued, “The most exciting part of an audition is the preliminary round. The Top 7 will all watch the first round of preliminaries. It’s an open space where anyone can participate, and we can hear the stories of ordinary people, which captures the charm of auditions from many angles. Hearing the stories of non-celebrity participants along with their songs made me quite emotional. I was very excited after the first recording.”
Ahn Sung-hoon added, “When I was offered the role, I readily said, ‘I’ll definitely do it.’ I still feel I’m lacking to be called an MC, so I plan to grow while approaching everyone with the vibe of a comfortable older brother.”
The production team explained, “We formed a new MC lineup to match the new attempt. Boom is a veteran who has been with us for a long time, and we expect him to excel in everything from hosting to wit. We thought Ahn Sung-hoon could approach the music more easily. Song Eun-i, as a new female MC, will play the role of an older sister and cover the emotional aspects well.”
They added, “We want to hear from viewers that this program is fresh. There have been many similar spin-offs, but this time we have a competition format, viewer voting, and a live band. It has a variety of different charms. We hope these diverse and new elements are delivered to the viewers. We also hope for good ratings.” They emphasized, “This will be a program that gives back the love we received from the viewers.”
