SHINee’s Key has prepared some very special gifts for the group’s 18th debut anniversary! His thoughtful gesture of including a gift for the late Jonghyun has left fans feeling deeply moved.
On the 25th, a video titled “Happy 18th Birthday, Bit-dols” was uploaded to SHINee’s official YouTube channel, showing the members spending quality time together to celebrate their 18th anniversary.
During the video, Key revealed the gifts he picked out. “I wanted to give something for our debut anniversary,” he shared. “I felt that calling it a ‘surprise’ among us would be too cringey, so I just decided to go for it and buy them myself!”
The gifts were luxury jewelry. Key explained that he chose these pieces after thinking about what would be both memorable and meaningful.
He also mentioned that he wanted the gifts to be helpful to others, so he specifically chose products that are linked to donations.
In a moment that sparked laughter, Key honestly admitted, “This isn’t a sponsorship. I bought these myself… using a three-month interest-free installment plan!”
Most touchingly, Key ensured that the late Jonghyun was included, saying, “I’ll bring one for Jonghyun hyung.” Taemin expressed his gratitude, noting, “It’s even more touching because I can tell he didn’t just have someone else buy them, but personally picked out the designs.”
Key also shared his feelings about the 18th anniversary. “I’m sincerely grateful to the fans who have stayed with us for such a long time and continue to support us,” he said. “Rather than making a huge fuss, I hope these anniversaries pass naturally as happy milestones every year.”
He added, “We’ll head back to preparing for our concerts and will naturally stand on stage and sing again.”
After a hiatus, Key is set to make his return with SHINee’s 6th mini album ‘Atmos’, releasing on June 1st.
