Actress Park Han-byul has opened up about her feelings of loneliness.
Recently, a video titled “Chat Time Before Bed” was uploaded to Park Han-byul’s YouTube channel.
During the video, Park Han-byul took some time to answer questions from her subscribers. When asked to recommend a life-changing book, she shared, “Even if I’m deeply moved by a movie or a book, I tend to forget them over time. Among the books I’ve read recently, the one that stands out the most has a long title: ‘On How to Become Deeper Through Time Spent Alone’.”
Explaining why she recommended the book, Park Han-byul said, “This really resonated with me. I was born an only child and debuted at a young age, so I feel like I was born with loneliness already equipped. I feel loneliness easily. I was always consumed by it, but reading this book helped me shift my perspective.”
Park Han-byul explained, “The idea is to become your own best friend. If I become my own best friend, I’m not lonely. Even with close friends, there are differences, right? You both have to like the same movies or want to go to the same travel destinations. But if I become friends with myself, I have a friend with the exact same tastes. It’s about objectifying myself and becoming my own friend. Shifting my thinking this way made me feel more at peace and convinced me that I could overcome loneliness.”
Currently living in Jeju, Park Han-byul was also asked, “What are the must-buy items when visiting Jeju?” To this, she honestly replied, “Nowadays, you can buy everything online. In the past, I used to think ‘I must buy this’ when going abroad, but at some point, I stopped buying things. Rather than carrying luggage back, I can just buy whatever I need online once I’m in Seoul.”
Meanwhile, actress Park Han-byul paused her acting career in 2019 after her husband was named as one of the key figures in the Burning Sun gate. Her husband, former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In-seok, was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison, suspended for three years, on charges including arranging prostitution and professional embezzlement.
After spending time in Jeju and running a cafe, Park Han-byul returned to broadcasting last year through TV Chosun’s ‘Dad and I’. Following her appearance on the variety show, she is also preparing for a return to the big screen after completing filming for the movie ‘Karma’.
