Park Jihoon Goes From Cooking Assistant to Official Cook! A Life-Changing Tonkatsu in ‘Become a Legend Cook’

Actor Park Jihoon showed an inspiring side of growth as he overcame challenges in ‘Become a Legend Cook’.

In the third episode of the TVING original series ‘Become a Legend Cook’ aired on the 18th, Park Jihoon played the role of Kang Seong-jae, delivering a passionate performance as he faced a crisis regarding his military position.

Previously, Kang Seong-jae prepared tonkatsu to persuade Company Commander Hwang Seok-ho (played by Lee Sang-yi), but he failed to gain enough favor within the quest’s time limit. This led to a critical situation where the system completely shut down.

However, an unexpected event occurred when North Korean residents decided to defect, and the tonkatsu made by Kang Seong-jae was the deciding factor in their choice! Thanks to this achievement, he successfully transitioned from a cooking assistant to an official cook without his position being changed.

Now an official cook, Kang Seong-jae began mastering basic knife skills and cooking under the guidance of Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun (played by Lee Hong-nae), eventually earning the trust and positive feedback of his fellow soldiers.

But another crisis arrived with a scheduled inspection by a member of the National Assembly and the division commander. Instead of a typical special meal, Kang Seong-jae chose ‘Braised Boneless Pollock’. Recalling how his father used tomato sauce to remove the fishy smell from steamed stingray, he created a unique ‘Pomodoro Braised Boneless Pollock’.

However, using advanced recipes back-to-back pushed Kang Seong-jae’s stamina to its limit. He eventually collapsed while cooking, ending the episode on a cliffhanger with a system overload shutdown notification.
