Musical actor Park Sun-young is gearing up for another acting transformation as she joins the revival of the musical ‘Stravinsky’.
Production company Showplay revealed the casting lineup for the ‘Stravinsky’ revival through its official channels on the 6th, with Park Sun-young’s name sparking high expectations for the show.
After receiving an enthusiastic response during its premiere last year, ‘Stravinsky’ returns after about a year with an even deeper narrative and stage. As the final installment in Showplay’s character series following ‘Nijinsky’ and ‘Diaghilev’, the story focuses on the conflict and reconciliation between the composer Igor Stravinsky, known as the “Tsar of modern music,” and his long-time friend Shum.
Park Sun-young has made history as the first actor to play the role of Stravinsky in all three parts of the character trilogy: ‘Nijinsky’, ‘Diaghilev’, and ‘Stravinsky’. In this revival, she will showcase her wide acting range by taking on both the roles of Stravinsky and Shum.
Currently appearing as Stravinsky in the musical ‘Diaghilev’, Park Sun-young has been earning praise for her stable performance and delicate emotional expression.
Park Sun-young shared her thoughts, saying, “It is very meaningful to be able to continue playing one character across several works. Since I am taking on two roles at once, I feel a lot of pressure, but I will do my best to prepare and deliver a great performance.”
Joining Park Sun-young in the role of Stravinsky are Sung Tae-jun, Moon Kyung-cho, and Lim Jun-hyuk, who all shone in the premiere. For the role of Shum, Seo Young-taek returns from the premiere, while Yang Ji-won, Park Sun-young, and Ban Jung-mo join the cast.
Meanwhile, the musical ‘Stravinsky’ will run from June 30 to September 13 at YES24 Art One Hall 2, with the first round of tickets opening on the 13th at 11 AM.
