Actor Park Sung Woong’s brilliance was on full display!
In the second season of Netflix’s ‘Death Game: The Last Winner’ released on the 13th, Park Sung Woong completed a dramatic turnaround.
Episode 4 featured the second main match, ‘Great Heritage.’ While Yuri Sa and Heo Sung Bum had already secured their spots in the top 6, Seo Chul Gu, Park Sung Woong, KiiiKiii’s Jiyu, and Pengsoo fought a fierce psychological battle for the final remaining spot. The tension peaked as former teammates were forced to face off against each other, adding to the excitement.
‘Great Heritage’ is a psychological auction game where players bid on items and strategically increase their value to earn points. The game consisted of 18 artifact cards from Korea, Egypt, and France—including paintings, sculptures, and architecture—along with 7 special cards like ‘Fake Determination,’ ‘Devaluation,’ and ‘Re-evaluation,’ making the outcome completely unpredictable.
The key was how to distribute 140 coins across 22 auctions for 25 items. Commentator Jang Dong Min advised, “Planned play based on a goal is key,” adding that “counting the other players’ chips is essential.”
The players’ strategies were distinct. Jiyu tried to analyze the others’ financial power through coin counting, while Pengsoo aimed for cheap items to minimize the risk of special cards. Park Sung Woong planned to drive up bid prices to drain his opponents’ coins, and Seo Chul Gu focused on securing a stable score by completing two collections.
Pengsoo brought some laughs, shouting, “When it comes to me, it’s all about momentum! Come at me all at once!” and “Senior Jang Dong Min, are you watching?”
The auction proceeded in the order of Jiyu, Park Sung Woong, Seo Chul Gu, and Pengsoo. Jang Dong Min emphasized the importance of coin management, noting, “As the rounds progress, some people will be unable to participate in the auction because they run out of chips.”
Indeed, Seo Chul Gu took an overwhelming lead early on by securing items like ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Egyptian Mural’ to complete his collection. However, a lack of coins began to hinder him in the later stages. Combined with a ‘Fake Determination’ card, he suddenly lost 7 points, and the tide turned rapidly.
Meanwhile, Park Sung Woong continued a puzzling playstyle, winning only special cards instead of artifacts. However, this was a calculated strategy to exhaust the other players’ coins. By actively using the special cards that others avoided, he shook up the opponents’ operations.
Leaping from last place to first, Park Sung Woong revealed his competitive side, stating, “‘Death Game’ shouldn’t be approached with conventional thinking.” He ultimately succeeded in a dramatic reversal to enter the top 6.
The defeated players also left a lasting impression. Seo Chul Gu shared, “I feel like I got a good workout. I’ll probably think about this tonight, but I’m grateful and happy that such an opportunity existed.” Pengsoo added, “In the world of competition, there can’t always be only winners. Competition is beautiful because winners and losers coexist,” before throwing off his glasses for a laugh.
Jiyu also mentioned, “This was the most fun filming I’ve had since my debut,” while cheering on her agency senior, IVE’s Gaeul.
With this, Heo Sung Bum, Yuri Sa, and Park Sung Woong have advanced to the top 6 for 1-on-1 death matches. The matchups for the top 6 were revealed at the end of the episode.
Heo Sung Bum will face DinDin in a rematch, and Yuri Sa will go up against Gaeul. In particular, the death match between Park Sung Woong and Hong Jin Ho is raising expectations for the next episode.
