Counseling expert Professor Lee Ho-sun has directly addressed the criticisms surrounding her lecture attitude and counseling methods.
On the 3rd, Professor Lee shared a lengthy post on Instagram, starting with, “It seems some people are feeling heartbroken.” She explained, “I’m sure I lectured with all my heart that day,” adding that she tried her best to deliver as much content as possible so that those who attended wouldn’t leave empty-handed.
She also spoke about her calling as a counselor, stating, “Counseling is by no means a way to make money.” She described it as “a process of performing CPR on the soul and life,” noting that while it’s not easy, counselors work hard because they see it as a calling. She added, “For lectures, passion and content are enough, and for counseling, the healing of the client is sufficient. That is the best I can do, but it may also be a limitation.”
Regarding the jokes made during her lecture that became a point of contention, she urged people “not to be hurt.” Professor Lee explained, “As everyone heard, they were jokes that didn’t intend to cause harm.” She further clarified that broadcast counseling involves many unseen elements and, since it is a one-time session, people should not feel too frustrated if it differs from their expectations.
Despite this, Professor Lee stated, “I will be especially careful and mindful. I will put even more heart and soul into my counseling. Since this is my job, it is only right that I be cautious and dedicated.” She concluded by saying, “I am even more grateful for the advice at this time. I will study more and live with a sharp mind.”
This statement appears to be a response to discomfort raised by some regarding her remarks and attitude during her lectures and broadcast counseling. It was reported that some viewers felt hurt by her blunt expressions or jokes during the lectures.
Professor Lee Ho-sun gained public recognition through JTBC’s ‘Divorce Meditation Camp’ and is currently appearing on tvN STORY’s ‘Lee Ho-sun Counseling Center’.
