Rain recently opened up about a past “nerve war” he had with Park Jin-young.
On the 15th, Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel ‘Zip Daesung’.
During the episode, Rain shared a story about traveling to the US for a song camp. He recalled, “Right after my first album, I went to a song camp, but there weren’t many producers—just JYP hyung. It was a song camp with just the two of us. Being in the same space felt suffocating.”
Rain confessed that he initially didn’t like the intro to ‘It’s Raining’. He explained, “I’m a dance singer and I need to blow up the stage, but I kept thinking, ‘How am I supposed to dance to this?’ so I said I wouldn’t do the song.” He added that since he was feeling confident at the time, a power struggle ensued, wondering if his “father” [referring to JYP as a mentor] would be shocked.
However, while visiting a beach, Rain found inspiration from someone dancing with sunglasses, which eventually led him to create the legendary choreography for ‘It’s Raining’.

But the clash of opinions didn’t end there. Rain revealed, “My first performance was on ‘Music Bank,’ and I had to get confirmation from JYP hyung, who was in the US. He told me to change the choreography, saying, ‘Why are you dancing with glasses? A dance singer’s eyes need to be visible.'”
Confident in his vision, Rain pushed forward. “I told them I’d take full responsibility, so please trust me instead of JYP hyung just this once, even though it’s his company,” he shared, adding that “everyone blocked their phones” as he insisted on doing things his way.
Back in the days of ARS voting, the song hit the top of the charts and he took 1st place. When he sent the recording of the performance to JYP, the producer remained silent. Rain proudly recalled, “That was the first time he acknowledged that my idea was right. After that, he stopped interfering with my direction. He trusted me.”
