Rapper Khundi Panda has denied allegations of draft evasion.
On the afternoon of the 11th, the Seoul Western District Court held the first trial for Khundi Panda, who was indicted on charges of violating the Military Service Act.
Currently, Khundi Panda is facing “draft evasion” charges for allegedly claiming mental illness and obtaining a medical certificate to avoid active duty enlistment.
According to the prosecution, although Khundi Panda was judged as Grade 2 (active duty) during his military service examination in 2016, he sought psychiatric treatment for six months starting in January 2022, complaining of depressive disorder. This led to the issuance of a medical certificate and a subsequent re-examination, where he was assigned Grade 4 (eligible for social service agent).
In response, Khundi Panda’s side denied the facts of the indictment, stating they “deny the charges.”
Khundi Panda began his career as a rapper in 2015 and gained attention by reaching the semi-finals of Mnet’s ‘Show Me The Money 9’ in 2020. While he recently drew public interest by returning for ‘Show Me The Money 12’, he was completely edited out starting from the third episode after the draft evasion controversy broke out during the broadcast.
