Rebellion or Expression? Jo Hyun Ah, Nana, and Han So Hee: Stars Who Removed Their Tattoos

Some stars have gone through the process of removing tattoos they once got to express their individuality.

Singer Jo Hyun Ah recently opened up during a conversation with actress Im Ji Yeon on her channel “Jo Hyun Ah’s Thursday Night.” When the topic of tattoos came up, she honestly confessed, “In the past, I got tattoos all over my body because of a sense of rebellion. But now, I want to erase them.”

Actress Nana also began removing her full-body tattoos in 2023. She previously drew significant attention in 2022 when she appeared at the press conference for the movie “Confession” with bold tattoos across her body. A year later, Nana revealed on a channel that she decided to remove them because her mother said, “I want to see your clean body again.”

Nana confessed that getting tattoos was “the only way to release my emotions during a time when I was struggling mentally.” However, she explained that she kept the tattoo on her ankle, “1968,” because it is the year her mother was born.

Actress Han So Hee is known to have removed tattoos from her arms, neck, and other parts of her body upon her acting debut in 2017. It was reported that her agency spent approximately 20 million won for the removal process. Regarding her tattoos, Han So Hee shared, “The me from back then is me, and the me now is also me. It’s not that the past me was wrong, and I don’t know if the current me is living well.” However, she seemed to regret her piercings, questioning, “Why did I endure the pain to get them?”

Netizens reacted to the stars’ clear skin after the removal, commenting, “You’re beautiful just as you are, even without tattoos,” “I think it’s great for actors to try various things,” and “Every action comes with individual responsibility.”
