Red Velvet’s Joy is turning heads as she prepares to get her dog groomer certification!
In the 647th episode of MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ (나혼산) aired on the 15th, fans got a glimpse of Joy diving into her studies for the certification.
Joy shared that she is facing a “big challenge” this year and needs to study hard, leading her to visit the stationery and toy street in Cheonho-dong. While she went looking for highlighters for her studies, she ended up buying a bunch of squishy toys instead, giving everyone a good laugh.
The show’s panelists totally related, commenting that buying new supplies is often the most exciting part, even if the motivation doesn’t always last. Joy jokingly regretted her purchase, saying, “I was trying to live as a minimalist and had been giving my things away, but I bought way too many squishies again.”
Next, Joy headed to a dog grooming academy. She revealed, “I registered and started learning as soon as my drama ended.” She explained that she has been attending the academy for about two months, with around 10 sessions so far.
Joy practiced her skills using a fluffy dog doll. She explained the technical process, noting, “You have to do a rough cut first, then a final cut. If every task appears on the exam, it all has to be finished within two and a half hours.”
Joy also shared a thoughtful side, saying, “When I thought about how I would live if I couldn’t do this job anymore, I felt it would be great to have a professional skill.” She added, “Since I love dogs, I decided to learn dog grooming. I also hope to do some volunteer work in the future,” leaving fans feeling touched by her ambition.
