Relationship Addiction: Some Seek Love Even Amidst Violence (Lee Ho-sun's Counseling Center)

Professor Lee Ho-sun has warned about the dangers of relationship addiction.

The May 12 episode of tvN STORY’s “Lee Ho-sun’s Counseling Center” focused on the topic of relationship addiction.

During the show, Professor Lee Ho-sun discussed various types of relationship addiction. She explained that the “I’ll die if we break up” type is terrified that the other person might leave and suffers from a deep fear of abandonment. She referenced the movie “Memories of Matsuko,” where the protagonist says, “It’s okay to be hit. It’s better than being abandoned.”

She continued, “There is also the ‘I live to help you’ type. They will do anything to help the other person,” sharing an example of someone who could not let go of a spouse struggling with severe alcohol addiction.

Additionally, she mentioned the “I can’t live without love” type, who may use inappropriate methods. She added that it is problematic if a specific pattern repeats, if someone cannot end a relationship that should be terminated, or if they continue to seek love even when the partner is violent.
