On the 6th, Eunseok bowed his head in apology via a fan communication platform, stating, “Yesterday, while sending a photo from my childhood, I used an inappropriate expression. I am sorry for causing discomfort due to my thoughtless actions and unsuitable word choice.”

Eunseok continued, “Although I recognized my mistake yesterday and deleted it immediately, my heart felt heavy thinking of those who might have already been hurt, so I am sending this message again. I will think and act more carefully in the future. I sincerely apologize.”

The problematic post was shared by Eunseok on the 5th, featuring a photo from his childhood. At the time, Eunseok referred to his darkly tanned skin from intense sunlight as a child, writing “Kkamdoongi Eunseok.” However, some netizens who saw this pointed out that “considering the global K-pop fandom, there is a high possibility of it being misunderstood as a racially discriminatory remark.” Eunseok, realizing the seriousness of the situation belatedly, deleted the post, but it had already spread across various online communities, sparking a wave of criticism. It appears Eunseok then offered an additional apology to resolve the situation.
