Rock Legend Kim Kyung-ho Mourns the Loss of His Father, a Former KBS Announcer

Rock vocalist Kim Kyung-ho is mourning the passing of his father.

According to music industry sources on May 17, Kim Kyung-ho’s father passed away this morning after a long illness. The funeral altar is located at the VIP Funeral Town in Seo-gu, Gwangju, with the funeral procession scheduled for May 19 at 8:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at the family cemetery in Hwasun, Jeonnam. Kim Kyung-ho is currently staying at the funeral altar with his family, receiving mourners in sorrow.

Kim Kyung-ho has always been open about his deep affection for his father. In fact, he even titled the lead track of his 7th album, released in 2003, “Father.”

During an appearance on KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show” last November, Kim Kyung-ho revealed that his father was a KBS announcer and his mother was a CBS announcer. He confessed, “After my debut, I didn’t mention that my parents were announcers because I was afraid of misunderstandings. I wanted to achieve everything through my own efforts, no matter what.” He also previously mentioned on a variety show that his father “was someone who always embraced his children with gentleness rather than raising them strictly.”

Having debuted in 1994, Kim Kyung-ho established himself as one of Korea’s most iconic rock vocalists with back-to-back hits from his 1997 second album, including “People Who Make Me Sad” and “Forbidden Love.”
