A Japanese distributor spilled the tea on X (formerly Twitter) on May 13th (KST), sharing a chance encounter with Ryu Jun Yeol in Cannes, France! Turns out, Ryu Jun Yeol was spotted at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off on May 12th (local time). He wasn’t there as an actor in a featured film, but as a film industry insider, sporting a pre-approved badge.
The official dished, “I met Ryu Jun Yeol at the Cannes Film Festival. He seemed to be there as a buyer.”
Here’s the juicy part! The official shared Ryu Jun Yeol’s surprisingly cheerful reaction: “When I mentioned I’d distributed Korean films, he asked which ones. I thought it might be a bit awkward to bring up a film starring Han So Hee (given the past dating news), but I said ‘Heavy Snow.’ He immediately burst out laughing and exclaimed, ‘Oh, Han So Hee’s movie? Of course I know it! That’s really interesting!'” Talk about a cool response!
For those wondering, ‘Heavy Snow’ is the English title of Han So Hee’s 2024 big-screen debut, ‘폭설’.
Let’s rewind a bit: Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri ended their 7-year public relationship in November 2023. Then, in March 2024, he started a new public relationship with Han So Hee. However, things got spicy when Hyeri posted a cryptic “재밌네” (“That’s funny”) on social media, fueling rumors of a “transit relationship” (aka, a rebound or overlap). The whirlwind romance with Han So Hee ended just two weeks after it went public.
Despite the whole situation causing quite a stir, it looks like Ryu Jun Yeol has shaken it off and is fully focused on his career!
Fans can look forward to seeing Ryu Jun Yeol back on screen in the latter half of this year in Netflix’s new original series, ‘들쥐’. He’s teamed up with actor Sol Kyung Gu for the project!
