Actor Seo In Guk has honestly opened up about his feelings of unfairness regarding the infamous “strawberry washing controversy” that caused quite a stir in the past.
In the SBS variety show ‘My Little Old Boy’ aired on the 10th, the fun daily lives of Seo In Guk and Lee Si Eon were shown as they visited actor Bae Yu Ram’s home. While looking at the cluttered state of Bae Yu Ram’s house, the three began chatting about their own past living habits.
Seo In Guk confessed, “I used to live even messier than this. I love clothes, so when I got home, I’d just drop them anywhere like I was shedding skin.” This prompted Lee Si Eon to bring up the strawberry washing scene from Seo In Guk’s 2013 appearance on MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’. Back then, Seo In Guk had filled the plastic container of strawberries with water, gave them a quick shake, and ate them immediately, which landed him in the middle of a hygiene debate.
When Lee Si Eon asked, “Didn’t people give you a hard time back then?” Seo In Guk didn’t hesitate to reveal his true feelings, saying, “I felt so unfair!” He shared that he actually went around asking people at every filming set if his method was really that wrong, adding with a laugh, “Surprisingly, most people told me they eat them that way too.” Lee Si Eon backed him up, showing off their strong friendship by saying, “I eat them like that too. I’m the one eating them, so who cares?”
When Bae Yu Ram pointed out, “Still, shouldn’t you wash them under running water?” Lee Si Eon quickly shot back, “Look at the state of your own house before saying that,” leaving the set in bursts of laughter. Lee Dong Hwi, watching from the studio, joined in by admitting, “When I wash strawberries, I usually end up eating half of them right then and there,” creating a relatable moment.
