Actress Shin Ye-eun has made a special promise for the new drama ‘Doctor Som Boy’!
The production presentation for ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Doctor Som Boy’ (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Lee Myung-woo, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by The Studio M) took place on May 26 at The Saint in Sindorim, Seoul.
‘Doctor Som Boy’ is a medical human romance featuring public health doctor Do Ji-yi (Lee Jae-wook) and the mysterious nurse Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun), who both end up on the notorious Pyundong Island. Based on the popular webtoon ‘Jonber Doctor’ (Writer Kim Tae-pung) from KakaoPage and KakaoWebtoon, fans are excited to see how Director Lee Myung-woo, known for his rhythmic direction and humor in ‘Boyhood’ and ‘The Fiery Priest’, will handle the romance genre to create a fresh sense of excitement.
Regarding the pressure of releasing a follow-up work, Director Lee Myung-woo shared, “There is some pressure when the previous work does too well. But now isn’t the time to worry about that; I’ve done my absolute best. It should be wrapped up this week, and I hope this piece, created with such care, is remembered as a meaningful work. I’ll be waiting for June 1st with the heart of a new bride.”
He added, “Out of all the works I’ve directed, I cried the most during this one. I couldn’t stop the tears while filming, editing, and during post-production. I believe the focus is on growth and empathy. This drama is completely different in tone from ‘Heosuabi’. I hope viewers can feel the sense of healing together.”
Lee Jae-wook, who was unable to attend the press conference due to his mandatory military service, sent a video message saying, “I really wanted to attend the production presentation, but I’m greeting you through a video as I fulfill my military duty. Is my partner Ha-ri doing well? I’m sorry I couldn’t be there, so I’m sending my thanks through this video. I want to thank all the actors.”
Shin Ye-eun responded, “We had worried many times before that Lee Jae-wook might not be able to attend the press conference, and we were sad about it. If we get good results, I will go visit him. I’ll go and bring back proof!”
Meanwhile, ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Doctor Som Boy’ premieres on June 1st at 10 PM on ENA and will also be available on KT Genie TV and Disney+.
