A dog entrusted to a temporary caretaker has gone missing, and shocking revelations about animal abuse have come to light.
In the “Detective 24 Hours” segment of Channel A’s Detective’s Business Secret (Tambi) airing on May 11, the horrific reality of a temporary shelter will be revealed.
This is more than just a simple missing case. The police have determined that this is “not a typical case,” and even a veteran dog trainer expressed devastation, saying, “This is just wrong.”
A client who appeared last week visited the detective team in desperation, stating they didn’t know if their dog was still alive. In October 2024, the client was assigned to work overseas and left their only family member, a dog named Gureum (pseudonym), with a temporary caretaker. However, in December 2025, the caretaker suddenly sent a text saying, “Gureum has passed away,” and claimed the funeral had already been held. When the client checked with the animal hospital that supposedly issued the death certificate, they were told that “no such treatment ever took place.” Animal detective and dog trainer Kim Hyo-jin immediately tracked down the caretaker’s residence. Neighbors testified that “the sound of dogs barking disappeared last summer, and a severe stench began to linger.”
Furthermore, an acquaintance of the caretaker came forward with shocking claims. The acquaintance revealed that the caretaker claimed to be raising 15 large dogs and 10 cats, adding, “They would kick the dogs if they didn’t listen,” while providing photos as evidence showing clear bruises and wounds. In particular, regarding a Malinois named Leo (pseudonym) that the caretaker had adopted last year, the informant reported, “Leo used to be a plump dog, but one day I saw him so skinny that all his bones were showing. He was on the verge of starvation.” Given the repeated allegations of abuse and suspicious circumstances, the animal detective, along with the police, local government, and four animal rights organizations, made an emergency raid on the residence. Watching this, Yoo In-na expressed anxiety, wondering, “What on earth is happening behind that door?” while Defconn reacted with anger, asking, “How could someone do this?” Kim Poong also showed a heated reaction, saying, “I’m so angry and furious.”
Meanwhile, singer Byeol, the wife of singer and entertainer HaHa, appeared on the show to share a realistic talk about parenting. Discussing the challenges of raising three children, Byeol described her military-like daily routine, saying, “I’m the first to wake up as soon as the sun rises and the last to go to sleep.” She shared that her eldest, Dream, is now a middle school student and the youngest, Song-i, is in elementary school. She confessed a sense of liberation, saying, “Finally, from 2026, there are no more preschool-aged children in our house. I’m so happy.” To this, Kim Poong strongly empathized, noting, “Other people’s kids really grow up fast.”
