Trot singer Park Ji-hyun is surprising everyone by revealing his past in the seafood wholesale business and showing off his expert knowledge of seafood.
In the 31st episode of MBN and Channel S’s ‘Jun Hyun-moo’s Plan 3’ airing on the 15th, Jun Hyun-moo and KwakTube (Kwak Joon-bin) head to Samcheok, Gangwon-do, with Park Ji-hyun.
Upon arriving in Samcheok, the southernmost part of Gangwon-do, Jun Hyun-moo met up with Park Ji-hyun. The two headed straight to Samcheok’s Beongae Market. Jun Hyun-moo introduced him, saying, “Park Ji-hyun is a real seafood expert. He’s from Mokpo and even worked in the industry.”
Park Ji-hyun revealed his impressive background, stating, “I worked in seafood wholesale. I’ve processed over 60,000 skate fish.” He even showcased his skills by scanning the fish at the market and identifying a “Jun-chi” using a natural dialect.
Market vendors and locals recognized Park Ji-hyun immediately, giving him a warm welcome. Park Ji-hyun responded with his signature friendly charm, lighting up the market’s atmosphere. Thanks to his popularity, the trio enjoyed “10,000 won happiness,” purchasing freshly sliced flounder sashimi, fresh sea snails, and semi-dried Atka mackerel for just 10,000 won.
Moving to a restaurant within the market, they had their purchased seafood cooked at a low price and shared stories over dishes like braised Atka mackerel. During the conversation, Park Ji-hyun opened up about his family, saying, “My maternal family members are all in the fishing industry. My uncle works on a boat, and my maternal grandfather was a village head of the fishing community.” He confessed, “I naturally started working in the industry to help my mother.” This leaves fans curious about how he transitioned from the fishing industry to becoming a beloved trot star.
Meanwhile, Park Ji-hyun first gained public attention after winning the “Sun” (runner-up) position on TV Chosun’s survival show ‘Mr. Trot 2’. Since then, he has appeared in various variety shows, including ‘Tralala Wandering Band’, ‘It’s Okay to be Directionally Challenged’, and ‘I Live Alone’.
