Comedian Song Eun-i recently looked back on her youth, revealing that she realized the importance of contributing to her family’s finances in her mid-20s.
During the “Family Pride Contest” on BBO TV’s “Secret Guarantee” on the 13th, a listener shared a story about a frugal younger sibling who paid 10 million won for their father’s surgery. This prompted Kim Sook to comment, “As an older sister, you must have reflected a lot,” leading Song Eun-i to share her own experience.
Kim Sook chimed in, “At the time, Song Eun-i earned more than her eldest sister but didn’t save any of it. Meanwhile, the eldest sister had saved up her salary to provide a large sum of money for a house move. Song Eun-i had no big savings, only small change.”
Reflecting on this, Song Eun-i said, “That’s when I snapped out of it. I thought, ‘I need to be someone who helps the family like my sister.'” Kim Sook joked that she woke up quickly, adding, “It was honestly so much fun back when you just spent money lavishly.”
Song Eun-i admitted, “I lived romantically,” recalling, “Back then, as soon as the general affairs team exchanged vouchers for cash, I’d take that yellow envelope straight to the billiard hall. There was a certain romance to it.” Kim Sook sparked laughter by adding, “You had such a cool and easygoing personality back then, but now you’re living so hustlingly.” She wondered why they had so much “romance” despite not making much money, recalling how Song Eun-i was a completely different person who would even take spontaneous trips to Busan.
