Song Si-hyun Dream Releases Meaningful New Song 'Child of May' to Commemorate May 18th

“Memories connected through voice.”

Song Si-hyun Dream, the project band led by the composer of “I Always Love You,” Song Si-hyun, is dropping a new track!

To commemorate the May 18th Democratization Movement, their meaningful new song “Child of May” will be released today, the 7th, at 12 PM across various music platforms.

“Child of May” is based on a family story tied to the 1980 Gwangju Democratization Movement, musically exploring a son’s growing pains and his resolve. This is the project’s second release, following “A Dreamlike World” from last April.

The song begins with a single voice whispering, gradually expanding to two and three voices, and finally culminating in a full choir. This structure represents a promise to never forget the memories of that day and to keep singing them.

Song Si-hyun handled the lyrics and composition, while Park In-hwan took charge of the arrangement to enhance the song’s quality. The arrangement is particularly impressive for delivering a clear message within a restrained composition.

Song Si-hyun Dream shared, “Through ‘Child of May,’ released just a month after ‘A Dreamlike World,’ listeners will be able to feel the band’s direction and message more clearly.”

Song Si-hyun Dream is a project band composed of artists who have always used music to speak to the world. Fans are curious about what themes and stories they will use to create empathy next. Additionally, they plan to present new interpretations of Lee Sun-hee’s “Turning the Pages of Memory” and “With a Burst of Laughter,” raising expectations for their expanding musical spectrum.

Song Si-hyun debuted through the Gangbyeon Song Festival in 1986 and has written numerous hits for singer Lee Sun-hee, including “I Always Love You,” “Turning the Pages of Memory,” and “Winter Sorrow.” He has also left a unique mark on the Korean music scene by working on OSTs for movies like “The Exorcism,” “Youth,” and “Family Glory,” as well as the drama “Adults Don’t Know.”

Meanwhile, you can listen to Song Si-hyun Dream’s new song “Child of May” on various music sites starting today, the 7th, at 12 PM.
