The '90s-born Death Row Prisoner' Who Shook Japan... The Horror of 8 Cooler Boxes (Hyung-Suda 2)

The brutal truth about a serial killer who plunged Japan into shock and horror is about to be revealed.

In the 40th episode of E Channel’s original web variety show ‘Hyung-Suda’ Season 2 (hereafter ‘Hyung-Suda 2’), which airs on the YouTube channel ‘Hyungsadeul-ui Suda’ on the 15th at 7 PM, former national football team player Kim Nam-il and Japanese actress Fujii Mina join the MCs in Tokyo, Japan, to dig into an epic case.

The episode kicks off on a friendly note at a historic izakaya in Tokyo, Japan. It is a special gathering arranged by Ahn Jung-hwan for profiler Kwon Il-yong, who is visiting Japan for the first time.

Guest Fujii Mina added to the warm atmosphere by certifying their world-class popularity, saying, “Ahn Jung-hwan and Kim Nam-il are so famous as handsome football players in Japan that it doesn’t feel like I’m meeting them for the first time.” Ahn Jung-hwan and Kim Nam-il responded with their signature bickering chemistry, showing off their variety show skills.

But the warmth was short-lived. In the ‘Today’s Death Row Prisoner’ segment, the story of Takahiro Shiraishi, a serial killer born in 1990 who shook all of Japan, begins. Even Kwon Il-yong expressed shock over the case, which came to light in 2017 after a brother reported his missing sister.

His methods were despicable and cruel. Shiraishi operated on Twitter (now X) under the nickname ‘The Person Who Hangs,’ approaching women who had lost the will to live and were struggling with depression. While pretending to be kind, saying, “I want to help people who are truly struggling,” he lured victims with chilling messages like, “Shall I help you prepare to die?”

After his arrest, a horrifying scene was discovered at Shiraishi’s home. There were eight cooler boxes inside, containing the skulls of several people, including the missing women, and over 240 bone fragments.

Shiraishi, who committed these bizarre crimes while on probation and working as a broker for prostitution establishments, was eventually executed in 2025. The episode will reveal the full details of the Shiraishi case and tease a shockingly similar ‘look-alike’ case that occurred in Korea in 2025, ramping up curiosity.
