The movie “Unrequited Love World” is set to meet domestic audiences on June 24. Written by Yuji Sakamoto, who won the Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was announced by Media Castle on the 13th along with the release of its poster and trailer.
Directed by Nobuhiro Doi, “Unrequited Love World” tells the story of three women who have lived together for 12 years in an old house in Tokyo and their experiences with unrequited love.
Japanese actresses Suzu Hirose, Hana Sugisaki, and Kaya Kiyohara take on the roles of Misaki, Yuka, and Sakura, respectively.
The released poster features the three women running across a sandy beach against a purple-hued backdrop, accompanied by the phrase, “May our hearts reach this world.”
The trailer captures the ordinary daily lives of Misaki, Yuka, and Sakura as they start their mornings and celebrate birthdays together. The mood shifts when a radio voice says, “I’m going to meet someone precious.” The trailer concludes with the text “Three of us together forever, forever unrequited love” and the line, “I’ve been missing you all this time.”
Writer Yuji Sakamoto previously won the Screenplay Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for the movie “Monster.”
