Tonight (15th) at 9 PM, SBS’s ‘Curious Stories Y’ will track the cruel reality of Jang Yun-gi, the suspect in the ‘Gwangju high school girl murder case’ that has left the entire nation in shock.
On Children’s Day, May 5, a high school student named Taerin (pseudonym) met a tragic end after being stabbed by a man she had never met near a university in Gwangju. The culprit, 24-year-old Jang Yun-gi, was arrested 11 hours after the crime. At the time, Taerin was on her way home after studying late and parting ways with a friend.
Jang claims the crime was impulsive, stating he was contemplating suicide and wanted to take someone with him. But was it truly unplanned? Contrary to his claims, CCTV footage shows Jang appearing surprisingly calm immediately after the crime. He was seen visiting an unmanned laundromat to wash his blood-stained clothes, casually smoking, and resting. Furthermore, investigation revealed that Jang purchased a suspicious item two days before the incident.
Another discovery was made during the investigation. It was revealed that Jang had been stalking a woman he worked with for the past year, and there are indications that he sexually assaulted her two days before the murder.
That night, Jang’s misplaced anger was directed at the innocent Taerin. Taerin dreamed of becoming an emergency medical technician to save lives. Why did this 18-year-old girl, who loved spending time with friends and had so many dreams, have to lose her life on a cold street?
This Friday the 15th at 9 PM, SBS ‘Curious Stories Y’ will dig deep into the cruel reality that suspect Jang is trying to hide.
