Actress Lee Yo-won surprised everyone by showing a cold side as a mother, delivering blunt words to her eldest daughter, who is currently preparing for employment.
During the May 18 broadcast of SBS’s ‘Ani Geunde Jinjja’, Lee Yo-won shared, “My eldest daughter is coming back to Korea after graduating from college this year.” She added, “None of her friends have found jobs because it’s so difficult right now.” It is known that her eldest daughter graduated from a prestigious university in the United States.
She expressed frustration over the conflict between her own urgency and her daughter’s relaxed attitude, saying, “When I pour my heart out, she just casually responds with ‘Oh, okay,’ which makes me angry.” She further revealed, “Since she’ll have to walk on eggshells anyway once she’s home, I decided to give her the smallest room, like a gosiwon. I told her to handle her job search on her own so she can really feel the pressure.”
She continued with a chilling remark that shocked those around her: “Think about how pathetically her younger siblings will look at her. If she just stays home, won’t they ask, ‘Noona, aren’t you getting a part-time job? Aren’t you getting employed?'”
Lee Yo-won coldly stated, “I’m not even giving her an allowance. I don’t have money. She should earn it herself.” However, she also reflected on her own lack of experience in early parenting, admitting, “It was like a child raising a child; my eldest daughter and I have been fighting since she was an infant.”
Recalling her struggles as a new mother, she said, “I was a first-time mom and immature. When the baby cried, I’d say, ‘Why are you crying? Why on earth are you crying? I gave you everything.'”

Lee Yo-won married a businessman and former professional golfer six years her senior in January 2003 at the age of 24. She welcomed her first daughter in December of the same year, followed by a second daughter in 2014 and a son in 2015.
