Fashion designer Ko Tae-yong shared his strong beliefs regarding the pricing of the clothing he sells.

On the May 24 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘The Boss’s Ears are Donkey Ears’, Ko Tae-yong made his first appearance to reveal his “boss life.”

As the CEO of fashion brand B, Ko Tae-yong is known as a maverick in the fashion world. Calling himself a “veteran” of the industry, he joked, “By my standards, the fashion world has become too lax lately. I used to have a fiery personality, but I’ve become very gentle now, so there might not be much for the broadcast. My old employees would probably say, ‘Ko Tae-yong has lost his edge.'”

While showcasing his life as a boss, he held a meeting with his design team to discuss the concept for the autumn season. He explained, “Since the fashion industry prepares one season ahead, we hold concept meetings in advance. Today is the day for the first design confirmation.”

However, when an employee used duplicate images and set the fabric cost at 5,000 won, Ko Tae-yong criticized the decision, saying, “What kind of quality can you achieve with 5,000 won fabric? Making things as cheap as possible isn’t the answer. Where on earth are you going to find fabric like that?” He further advised, “Pricing is just as important as design. It’s better to set the maximum cost and then negotiate a price that customers are willing to pay, rather than just blindly lowering the unit price. If you do that, the quality suffers.”

Ko Tae-yong added, “Since I run a brand with my own name on it, I don’t like making things just to be cheap,” reaffirming his principles.
