Han Dong-hee has truly embodied the image of a perfect commander!
Actress Han Dong-hee appeared as First Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, the head of Gangrim Outpost, in episodes 5 and 6 of the TVING original ‘Become a Legend of the Cook’ (written by Choi Ryong/directed by Jo Nam-hyung) aired on May 25 and 26. She showcased strong leadership by guiding her team through the harsh conditions of field training and took a principled stand by sharply tackling issues within the military.
In these episodes, Jo Ye-rin displayed her sharp insight as the ‘Gangrim Outpost Fixer,’ suspecting corruption within a food supply company and meticulously verifying the inspection process. From spotting a ghost company to personally scraping off stickers from boxes to uncover the truth, Jo Ye-rin showed bold determination in rooting out irregularities. Han Dong-hee perfectly portrayed Jo Ye-rin’s uncompromising beliefs with a cool gaze and a commanding tone.
Han Dong-hee’s command presence also shone during the field training. Jo Ye-rin remained the anchor for her soldiers even as morale plummeted due to blocked supply routes and broken cooking equipment. She united her team amidst the chaos and proved her skills as a field commander by capturing a secretly infiltrated opposing officer and clearing out tunnels.
She also added a layer of fun to the series with an unexpected charm. While maintaining her image as a reliable commander, she showed a surprising side when she exclaimed, “I feel a sudden surge of energy,” with an amazed expression after eating an arancini rice ball.
Toward the end of the episodes, a military conspiracy surrounding Jo Ye-rin began to unfold. Kang Seong-jae happened to overhear a chilling secret phone call where Captain Lee Min-gu asked, “Should I just take care of her?” Curiosity is now peaking over how Jo Ye-rin, who has been pushed to a remote outpost and faces cold treatment from those around her, will overcome this looming crisis.
