WOODZ’s team has issued an apology regarding the controversy surrounding a recruitment notice for unpaid staff.
On the 8th, WOODZ’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, released a statement saying, “We have verified the facts with the local concert promoter regarding the matter.” They added, “We feel deeply sorry that we did not sufficiently review the details in advance.”
Furthermore, they stated, “We will closely coordinate with the local promoter to ensure that necessary measures are taken regarding the shortcomings in the local concert operation.”
The agency added, “We will strengthen communication with local partners and be more meticulous and thorough to ensure that the overall concert operation process proceeds smoothly in the future.”
The controversy erupted recently after a post by an individual claiming to be an acquaintance of a WOODZ concert staff member spread across online communities.
The post concerned the staff recruitment notice for WOODZ’s world tour ‘Archive.1’ in Germany, which has been ongoing since March. The author noted, “Those working as volunteers on the day of the stay will be assigned tasks such as maintaining audience order and managing booths, staff, and meals.”
Because the conditions listed were unpaid, meals provided, and the ability to watch the performance, it sparked a debate over labor exploitation. Despite the controversy, the recruitment process has reportedly closed.
Meanwhile, WOODZ will hold his ‘Archive 1’ world tour in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany, as well as Paris, France, this coming June.
