WOODZ’s Agency Apologizes Over “Unpaid” Staff Recruitment Controversy for Overseas Tour

WOODZ's Agency Apologizes Over

WOODZ’s team has issued an apology regarding a controversy over an unpaid recruitment notice for staff at his upcoming overseas performances.

On the 8th, WOODZ’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, told TenAsia, “We have verified the facts with the local performance organizer.” They added, “We sincerely apologize for not thoroughly reviewing the details in advance.”

The agency further stated, “We will consult closely with the local organizer to ensure that necessary measures are taken to address the shortcomings in the local operation.”

They also promised to “strengthen communication with local partners and monitor the overall process more meticulously to ensure everything runs smoothly moving forward.”

The controversy began when a recruitment notice for WOODZ’s Germany shows spread online. According to the notice, staff were tasked with maintaining crowd order, managing the MD booth, and assisting the show runner. The pay was listed as unpaid, with meals and the opportunity to watch the performance provided instead. Recruitment for these positions has since closed.

The “unpaid” aspect of the notice sparked significant backlash. Critics pointed out that despite requiring multiple qualifications, such as fluency in Korean, German, and English, experience with K-pop shows, and knowledge of lighting and sound, no salary was offered.

WOODZ is scheduled to perform in Berlin, Germany, on June 7 and Frankfurt on June 12 as part of his overseas tour. Ticket prices are set at 245.9 euros (approx. 420,000 KRW) for VIP seats, 110.9 euros (approx. 190,000 KRW) for Priority seats, and 90.9 euros (approx. 150,000 KRW) for General seats.
