On the latest episode of ‘You Quiz on the Block’, Yoo Jae-suk couldn’t hold back his laughter while listening to the retirement planning stories of PD Kim Min-sik, who is known as ‘Wolcheon Geosa’.
PD Kim Min-sik, the director behind ‘Queen of Housewives’ and ‘New Nonstop’, appeared on the tvN show aired on the 13th. Yoo Jae-suk previously had a connection with him through a special appearance in ‘Queen of Housewives’ back during his ‘Infinite Challenge’ days.
Yoo Jae-suk asked, “PD Kim Min-sik is someone who planned his retirement so well that he earns 10 million won a month after retiring. How did you manage your retirement planning?” Since the age of 20, PD Kim had developed a habit of saving and frugality to become wealthy. He initially earned a significant amount of money working as an interpreter before finding his true passion as a PD.
However, his journey wasn’t without hurdles. While living in Mapo, he moved to Bundang, taking on a debt of 100 million won. Unfortunately, during the 2008 global economic crisis, apartment prices in Bundang plummeted. PD Kim shared, “I moved to Dogok-dong on a jeonse lease for my children’s education and sold the Bundang apartment.” He added, “But my spouse suggested that we should have rented out the Bundang place and moved to Dogok-dong on jeonse instead.”
He confessed, “I realized I couldn’t do stocks. I couldn’t stand seeing real estate prices drop. The bank kept telling me to pay back the debt every month. As someone who only ever saved, being told to pay back money was driving me crazy.” Yoo Jae-suk quietly added, “I’m sorry, but your financial management is a mess,” which left everyone in stitches.
