Yoon Kyung-ho Opens Up About ‘Pinggyego’ Fame and His Role in ‘Become a Legendary Cook’

Actor Yoon Kyung-ho shared, “The outpouring of interest and love after ‘Pinggyego’ has been quite flustering for me as an actor.”

On the afternoon of the 6th, a production presentation for the TVING original series ‘Become a Legendary Cook’ (written by Choi Ryong, directed by Jo Nam-hyung) was held at the Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Park Ji-hoon, who plays the sincere cook Kang Seong-jae; Yoon Kyung-ho, who plays First Sergeant Park Jae-young, a supply officer who trusts intuition over procedure; Han Dong-hee, who plays Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, the commander of the Gangnim outpost from a women’s university ROTC; Lee Hong-nae, who plays Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun, a cook nearing discharge; Lee Sang-yi, who plays Captain Hwang Seok-ho, a man of complacency; and Director Jo Nam-hyung.

Yoon Kyung-ho described his character, saying, “It’s a mother-like role in charge of internal affairs. I play a character who takes responsibility for the unit members based on his own experience rather than rules.” He also shared his thoughts on his recent popularity, saying, “I’m receiving so much love through ‘Pinggyego,’ and I’m very grateful to the production team. While I’m happy people like the episodes featuring me as a person, it’s also a bit flustering as an actor. I’m grateful, but I’m also worried that a strong image might be fixed upon me. Once people move on to someone else, I’ll be forgotten too. I’m trying to adapt with a thankful heart.”

Based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name by J-Robin, ‘Become a Legendary Cook’ is a military cooking fantasy drama that follows a private who trades a gun for a kitchen knife and a belt for an apron to become a ‘legendary cook.’ The series stars Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, Lee Hong-nae, and Lee Sang-yi. It is written by Choi Ryong, known for ‘The Chairman is Grade 9,’ ‘My Shitty Twenty,’ and ‘Dokgo Bin is Updating,’ and directed by Jo Nam-hyung of ‘Superior Day.’ It will premiere on TVING and tvN on the 11th at 8:50 PM.
