YouTuber Karakula’s Channels Shut Down Amid Controversy Over “Killer” Interview

YouTuber Karakula's Channels Shut Down Amid Controversy Over

YouTuber Karakula has seen two of his channels shut down following a controversy surrounding an interview with Lee, the suspect in the case involving the death of director Kim Chang-min.

Karakula recently shared on Instagram, “An unprecedented situation has occurred where both my main YouTube channel (Karakula Detective Agency) and sub channel (Karakula Storage) have been suspended simultaneously.” As of the 7th, both channels have been deleted.

Karakula stated, “I believe I have produced content while adhering to YouTube’s community guidelines and have not intentionally or repeatedly violated any policies.” He added, “I have captured evidence that there was a flood of organized false reports from specific groups with vested interests regarding the sensitive investigative content I have covered recently.”

He further explained, “I believe this suspension is not a fair judgment by YouTube, but rather a mechanical reaction of YouTube’s AI automatic filtering system to this organized reporting offensive.”

He claimed, “Those who felt threatened during the process of uncovering the truth are attempting to silence me by abusing the reporting function of the YouTube platform. This appears to be a calculated act of retaliation to hide uncomfortable truths, rather than a simple policy violation.”

He added, “I am currently submitting relevant materials to YouTube and closely reviewing whether all content complies with the policies. Since this is not just a matter of channel operation but is directly linked to the records and continuity of my ongoing activities, I will explain everything responsibly to ensure recovery as soon as possible.”

Some are pointing to the controversial “perpetrator interview” video as the reason for the shutdown.

In a video titled “I am the killer of Director Kim Chang-min” uploaded to the ‘Karakula Detective Agency’ channel on the 9th of last month, Lee bowed his head and said, “As the perpetrator in the case of the late Director Kim Chang-min, I am so sorry and wish to apologize to the deceased and the bereaved family.”

In response, the director’s father, Kim Seong-cheol, expressed his anger, saying, “I don’t know why they are provoking people further, like fanning a fire. They are causing more pain to the victim’s family with sudden excuses.”

Full Statement

Hello, this is Karakula.

An unprecedented situation has occurred where my main YouTube channel (Karakula Detective Agency) and sub channel (Karakula Storage) have been suspended simultaneously. I would like to share the current situation for those who are curious.

First, I believe I have produced content while adhering to YouTube’s community guidelines and have not intentionally or repeatedly violated any policies.

Regarding the sensitive investigative content I have covered recently, I have captured evidence that there was a flood of organized false reports from specific groups with vested interests.

I believe this suspension is not a fair judgment by YouTube, but rather a mechanical reaction of YouTube’s AI automatic filtering system to this organized reporting offensive.

Those who felt threatened during the process of uncovering the truth are attempting to silence me by abusing the reporting function of the YouTube platform. This appears to be a calculated act of retaliation to hide uncomfortable truths, rather than a simple policy violation.

I believe the final judgment will be clearly revealed through YouTube’s review.

I am currently submitting relevant materials to YouTube and closely reviewing whether all content complies with the policies. If necessary, I plan to further comply with platform policies through supplements.

Since this is not just a matter of channel operation but is directly linked to the records and continuity of my ongoing activities, I will explain everything responsibly to ensure recovery as soon as possible.

I ask for your generous understanding, subscribers, and please keep an eye on the recovery process.

Thank you.
