Yu Hye-ri revealed her ex-husband’s shocking behavior on the show ‘Special World’.
Actress Yu Hye-ri appeared on the MBN program ‘Special World’ aired on the 14th.
Yu Hye-ri, who has lived with her cats for over 15 years, looked back on her past marriage. She shared, “I felt pressure regarding my age. Back then, there was a feeling that you should be married by thirty. My father was strict, so I had to be vetted. I thought I would marry immediately if I found a good person.” Despite her parents’ opposition, she married actor Lee Geun-hee. However, the honeymoon phase didn’t last long. Yu Hye-ri revealed, “We divorced after a year and a half. I think we weren’t cautious enough because we were both immature.”
Yu Hye-ri, who became known through ‘Paris Aema’, met the original ‘Madame Aema’, Ahn So-young. Ahn So-young lamented, “I became famous because of it, but I lost a lot. All my CFs were cut off after ‘Madame Aema’. Even directors who wanted to promote me asked why I chose that specific project.” In response, Yu Hye-ri shared, “After doing ‘Paris Aema’, I did plays. I received 15 scripts that were all the same. While doing plays, I encountered the movie ‘Love of Umukbaemi’. I won a Grand Bell Award for that film.”
Although she has been bravely handling life on her own, Yu Hye-ri still carries the pain of her divorce. She exposed her ex-husband’s atrocities, saying, “Stabbing a knife into the dining table, breaking all the apartment windows, or coming to a dinner party at a recording site, getting drunk, and throwing a chair at random people… that is not normal, right? Seeing those things made me realize I had made a mistake. I realized then that my father had not opposed the marriage for no reason.”
Yu Hye-ri expressed her regret toward her parents, saying, “I was particularly like that. I caused them a lot of heartache. I should have shown them a better side of myself. I am sorry I could not show them a happy version of me.”
One day, Yu Hye-ri received the shocking news that her mother had collapsed due to a cerebral infarction and rushed to the hospital. She hurried there, saying, “My mother had a car accident a few years ago, has chronic illnesses, and a strong family history, so I was very worried. I am in great shock to hear she has been hospitalized.”
Fortunately, her mother received emergency treatment and was moved to a general ward. Although she felt relieved upon seeing her mother, Yu Hye-ri’s heart broke at the thought that she had not been able to protect her.
