ZEROBASEONE (Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, Park Gunwook) recently held an interview at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their sixth mini-album ‘Ascend-‘.
Since their debut in July 2023, ZEROBASEONE has established themselves as a representative group of the 5th generation. They have proven their presence in the global K-pop market with rapid growth, achieving six consecutive million-seller albums since their debut and becoming the first to surpass 9 million cumulative sales.
Sung Hanbin shared, “Rather than focusing on the results, we focused more on improving the quality of the album. We put a lot of thought into how we could approach the public in a friendly way.” He added, “Since we promised to meet our ZEROSE (fandom name), we are trying our best to take care of our fans’ hearts.”
Park Gunwook explained, “Starting with this album, I want to further solidify ZEROBASEONE’s unique color and image.”

They also shared their goals for the promotions. Park Gunwook revealed, “I want to win an award on ‘M Countdown.’ Hanbin hyung did it before, so I think it would be a really special feeling to see our team take first place on the program where I am an MC.”
Kim Taerae expressed his hopes, saying, “There are so many challenge videos these days. I hope various challenges come out for our song too.” He added, “I hope our music becomes something that is constantly played in cafes and that many people listen to it not only in Korea but overseas as well.”
The group also shared their determination regarding the May comeback battle. On the same day, BIGBANG’s Taeyang and NCT’s Taeyong are making solo comebacks, and ITZY is returning with a new album.
Sung Hanbin said, “Many artists are making comebacks in May, but I think it is actually an opportunity to make ourselves more known.” He added, “The thought that we need to show our best to be recognized makes my passion grow even stronger.”
Kim Jiwoong also mentioned, “It is an honor in itself that our promotion period overlaps with such great artists.” He added, “I am getting a lot of inspiration and positive influence from watching other stages. I am always grateful.”
