A press conference for the MBN audition program ‘Unknown Legend – Trot Men’s Hierarchy War’ (hereafter ‘Unknown Legend’) Top 7 was held on the morning of the 20th at the Sangam Shocking K-Pop Center in Seoul. The ‘Unknown Legend’ TOP 7 members—Sung Ri, Haru, Jang Han-byeol, Hwang Yun-sung, Jung Yeon-ho, Lee Chang-min, and Lee Rune—along with the production team, were in attendance.
When asked if he felt any pressure appearing on ‘Unknown Legend’ despite already being a well-known singer, Lee Chang-min shared, “The people around me were split 50/50 on whether I should take on this challenge. I also received many questions about what I wanted to show through this experience.”
He continued, “Last year, things didn’t go as planned with my singing. I even took lessons from a vocal trainer for a while, and I joined ‘Unknown Legend’ because I wanted to achieve a different result. Now that I’m sitting here as part of the Top 7, I feel that my decision was right.”
He added, “While I performed other songs, the pressure was much greater when challenging Trot according to the rules of ‘Unknown Legend.’ I’m very grateful that I could try out different types of songs.”
Regarding how he made it into the Top 7, Lee Chang-min confessed, “I was born in the right era. I think Trot has expanded thanks to the many seniors who challenged themselves before me.”
‘Unknown Legend’ is a massive Trot survival show where 99 challengers risked everything to claim a single throne. The show featured a unique ‘Hierarchy Tower’ system, where challengers were placed from the 1st to the 5th floor based on their recognition. Floors 1 to 3 were for unknown singers, while floors 4 and 5 featured famous challengers who hid their identities behind masks.
‘Unknown Legend’ aired from February 25 to May 13. The winner and ‘1st Legend,’ Sung Ri, received a prize of 100 million won, the release of a new song, a national tour concert, a cruise fan meeting, a second house in Jeju Island, a program produced in his name, and a movie featuring him as the protagonist.
The ‘Unknown Legend’ Top 7 are set to meet their fans starting with a dinner show on the 20th, followed by a national tour concert and various other activities.
