The Signal House was shaken up by the arrival of the final resident and “catfish” member, Choi So-yoon, in Heart Signal 5.
In the 5th episode of Channel A’s Heart Signal 5 (directed by Park Chul-hwan and Kim Hong-gu) aired on May 12, the “Celebrity Prediction Team” consisting of Yoon Jong-shin, Kim Eana, Roy Kim, and Tsuki, along with “Special Prediction Team” members actor Hong Jong-hyun and rapper pH-1, worked together to figure out the love lines. The group was shocked when Choi So-yoon chose Park Woo-yeol for her first date, and viewers were completely hooked to see how the romance storm surrounding the “fox-like” Park Woo-yeol would unfold.
On the 5th day at the Signal House, Kang Yu-gyeong waited for Park Woo-yeol early in the morning for a promised carpool after their first official date the previous day. Park Woo-yeol took care of her breakfast in the kitchen, and the two shared a sweet meal. However, the mood shifted when Jung Gyu-ri came downstairs. Jung Gyu-ri, who was already upset after not receiving a text from Park Woo-yeol the night before, left for work with a stiff expression upon seeing the two sharing breakfast and a carpool. Later, Park Woo-yeol and Kang Yu-gyeong left together. In the car, Park Woo-yeol suggested a movie date, saying, “Shall we go see a movie this week?” to which Kang Yu-gyeong happily agreed. However, upon returning that evening, Kang Yu-gyeong confessed her complicated feelings for Park Woo-yeol to Kim Min-ju, lamenting, “Woo-yeol suggested a movie. He expresses interest, but it feels like he’s just saying it…”
That evening, Kang Yu-gyeong, who was on dinner duty, prepared rolled omelets and beef radish soup. When Park Woo-yeol and Jung Gyu-ri didn’t return home, Jung Jun-hyun speculated, “Are those two on a date?” Jung Gyu-ri eventually returned alone, bringing a smile of relief to Kang Yu-gyeong. Kim Seo-won looked after Jung Gyu-ri, asking if she had a good time. Park Woo-yeol, the last to return, mentioned he had a hard day at work, even breaking into a cold sweat. Kim Min-ju, who had been resting in her room because she was unwell, later went to the kitchen and ran into Kim Seong-min. However, Kim Seong-min gave her vitamins instead of medicine, leaving her disappointed. Consequently, Kim Min-ju sent her text to Kim Seo-won instead of Kim Seong-min. Jung Gyu-ri sent her first text to Kim Seo-won, who had taken good care of her during their date, and Kim Seo-won texted her back, confirming their mutual interest. Kang Yu-gyeong struggled with her feelings for Park Woo-yeol but ended up texting Kim Seong-min. When she received texts from both Kim Seong-min and Park Woo-yeol, she fell back into a dilemma. Feeling sorry for Park Woo-yeol, she had a short conversation with him, but he seemed exhausted, perhaps because he was sick and hadn’t received a text for the first time.
The next day, the seven residents gathered at a fancy restaurant after being notified of a “winter trip.” They were excited to see brochures for a trip to Tokushima, Japan. Amidst the excitement, a new female resident appeared. The final member, the “catfish,” introduced herself with a lovely vibe and a bright, confident smile. Choi So-yoon, a 26-year-old freelance graphic designer, immediately broke the ice by suggesting, “Shall we speak casually?” and asking about their ideal types. Regarding her own ideal type, she stated, “I like the puppy-like look, but honestly, I think I decide within three seconds.” When Kim Min-ju asked if she had already decided, she immediately answered “Yes,” leaving everyone stunned.
After a day full of excitement and tension, Kim Seo-won and Jung Gyu-ri carpooled to Dongdaemun the next morning in a sweet atmosphere. Meanwhile, Kang Yu-gyeong commuted separately from Park Woo-yeol, as things had become awkward due to the previous night’s texts. Choi So-yoon, notified that she could go on a 1:1 date with someone she liked, chose Park Woo-yeol. The two had a comfortable conversation at a restaurant, where Choi So-yoon asked about her first impression. Park Woo-yeol replied, “You seemed like a cat.” When she asked if he preferred dogs or cats, he wittily replied, “Since I’m a dog, I like cats.” Park Woo-yeol continued to make her smile, saying he tends to adapt to his partner in a relationship and that he has better chemistry with older women, referring to Choi So-yoon, who is one year his senior. Choi So-yoon suggested they speak casually, and when Park Woo-yeol asked what she wanted to be called, she playfully replied, “Start with ‘Noona’ for now.”
While the two were on their date, Kang Yu-gyeong poured out her frustrations to Kim Min-ju and eventually burst into tears. “It’s so hard,” she sobbed, adding, “I’ve tried not to feel this way about Woo-yeol, but in my heart…” Kim Min-ju comforted her, saying, “I see,” and encouraged her, “Situations can change at any time. Win Woo-yeol over! Let’s be proactive.” Then came the time to send texts. Choi So-yoon sent her first text to Park Woo-yeol, and he responded. Kim Min-ju, seemingly over her anger from the previous day, texted Kim Seong-min again, and Kang Yu-gyeong texted Kim Seong-min for the second consecutive day. Kim Seong-min consistently texted Kang Yu-gyeong. Jung Gyu-ri and Kim Seo-won exchanged texts for the second day in a row, and Jung Gyu-ri also received a text from Jung Jun-hyun.
The story of the Signal House, now in even greater chaos with the appearance of the “catfish,” will continue in episode 6 of Heart Signal 5, airing May 19 at 10 PM.
