SISTAR’s Bora Opens Up About 3-Year Hiatus: “My Mental Health Wasn’t Great”

SISTAR's Bora Opens Up About 3-Year Hiatus:

SISTAR’s Bora has opened up about the reason behind her three-year break.

On the 14th, SISTAR’s Bora appeared on the YouTube channel “Jo Hyuna’s Ordinary Thursday Night.”

Bora, who mentioned she even took voice training because she had many concerns about her voice, shared, “I think I usually have good focus and mental strength.” When Jo Hyuna remarked, “Then your mind must be healthy,” Bora replied, “There were times when my mental health wasn’t great, but I’m working hard to be healthy.”

Bora explained, “At first, I didn’t realize it was that bad. Actually, it was worse when I wasn’t busy.” She added, “It’s really difficult, but I felt I had to overcome it. So when my mental health was poor, I simply thought, ‘I’m not doing well, I need to accept this and overcome it.'”

Bora revealed, “I didn’t have an agency for three years. It’s not that I didn’t work at all, but the period of inactivity was longer compared to before. That’s why I intentionally didn’t join a company. I felt a lot of guilt about resting back then. I kept telling myself, ‘When have you ever actually rested? It’s okay to rest now.'”

To this, Jo Hyuna commented, “Actually, you’re much more capable, solid, and easygoing than I thought. You seem like a very open-minded person. Why haven’t we seen this side of you on TV?” Bora confessed, “There was no one to bring this side of me out. My weakness is that I can move forward if someone opens the path for me, but it’s hard for me to break through on my own.”

Bora shared, “I also thought I was just a bright person. I was very active when I promoted with SISTAR, and that side of me is real too. It wasn’t fake. But I realized I was a darker person than anyone else. I discovered that later. I felt like I was a dark person who was just packaging myself as bright. From now on, I just want to show who I really am.”
