Actor Jeon So-young opened up about seeking advice from Kim Go-eun before starting her first lead role!
Jeon So-young recently appeared on the YouTube channel ‘MMTG’.
During the show, Jaejae mentioned that Jeon So-young was once known as the “Han Hyo-joo of Seoul Institute of the Arts.” Regarding her debut, Jeon shared, “As far as I know, some photography majors asked me to be a model for their assignment and posted the photos on SNS. A company saw them and reached out to me.”
Jeon also sought guidance from her agency senior, Kim Go-eun. “I was filming ‘Girigo’ around the time ‘Yumi’s Cells 3’ was being shot. Since it was my first lead role and I was struggling to find the right feel, I asked my senior for help,” she confessed.

She continued, “It was shortly after the movie ‘Exhuma’ was released, so I asked her about her preparation process for that film. She asked if my character had a daily routine and advised me to follow that routine even when I wasn’t filming.”
Taking Kim Go-eun’s advice to heart and living like her character, Jeon revealed she gained 10kg! “I ate six meals a day. I always had late-night snacks and ramen,” she said, adding that jjimdak, tteokbokki, and malashangguo helped her gain weight. However, she noted that losing it has been a struggle: “Gaining it took less than three months, but I’ve been losing it since last September.” This means she has been on a diet for eight months now!
Meanwhile, Jeon So-young starred in the Netflix series ‘Girigo’.
