CLOSE YOUR EYES shared their intense ambitions for their new single.
In an interview during their photoshoot for the June issue of @Style, CLOSE YOUR EYES opened up about everything from the concept of their digital single “OVEREXPOSED” and title track “POSE”, to the growth they felt after their first solo concert and 1st anniversary, and their heartfelt feelings for their fans.
Regarding “OVEREXPOSED”, Kim Sung-min stated, “This album contains CLOSE YOUR EYES’ ambition to intensely prove our existence at any moment.” He added, “Since it’s about proving ourselves in the clearest way possible, we hope you look forward to an intense performance.”
As for the title track “POSE”, Song Seung-ho explained, “The music video depicts facing the moment of the apocalypse in CLOSE YOUR EYES’ own way, without being confined by a mold.” He described it as “a song containing the strong ambition to face any moment without regrets in our own unique way.”
For this comeback, the members put a lot of effort into their facial expressions as well as their performance. Song Seung-ho shared, “While we used more intense expressions before, this time we looked up and shared various videos to bring out a more mature and relaxed look.” He specifically mentioned referencing the drama “Vincenzo”, adding, “I wanted to express the slyness, wit, and the relaxed aura unique to the mafia concept that the character Vincenzo has.”
They also shared honest thoughts on their musical evolution. Jeon Min-wook said, “I felt our music, which was closer to R&B, has shifted slightly toward hip-hop.” He noted, “By adding hip-hop colors, a more relaxed mood was created. If we debuted as boys, we’re now showing a more grown-up side.” Ma Jingxiang also mentioned, “This comeback has a stronger hip vibe that’s sly and makes you naturally move to the rhythm,” adding that he paid more attention to his expressions to enhance the song’s atmosphere.
The changes they felt after their first solo concert and 1st anniversary naturally flowed into this album. Song Seung-ho stated, “This is the first album we’re showing this year and our first digital single. After our 3rd album, we had a solo concert and celebrated our 1st anniversary, and we felt a lot. All the members prepared really hard to capture those feelings in this song.” Jeon Yeo-jun said, “It was a time when I could truly feel the fans’ love. The love from fans felt like a miracle, and I wanted to return that love twofold.”
Finally, the members expressed their gratitude to the fans who waited for this comeback. Seo Kyung-bae said, “Since it’s been a while since our last comeback, fans will enjoy seeing us on music shows again. We’ve prepared many new things, so please look forward to it, and since it’s a song everyone can enjoy, we hope you enjoy it with us.” Kenshin added a cute request for fans to introduce their songs to family and friends, saying, “I hope more people listen to our music.” Jeon Yeo-jun shared his sincerity, saying, “The love given by Closers, who are precious just by existing, is so valuable. I will work hard to ensure CLOSE YOUR EYES can repay that love.”
