Shocking Family Dynamics on 'Divorce Meditation Camp': Sons Copy Mother's Verbal Abuse Toward Father

JTBC’s variety show ‘Divorce Meditation Camp’ has left viewers shocked after airing scenes where a wife’s constant verbal abuse toward her husband is mirrored by their young sons.

In the episode aired on the 14th, the story of an “addicted couple” from Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, who have been married for 14 years, was revealed.

The wife displayed intense anger and aggression, preventing her husband from entering the home and using harsh language toward her in-laws.

The couple engaged in heated arguments right in front of their children. The wife even asked her son to film their fights as evidence.

In front of their two sons, estimated to be in middle and elementary school, the wife didn’t hesitate to call her husband “poop” and hurl insults. This hatred and hostility were passed on to the children, who shocked everyone by calling their father a “useless human” and cursing at him. When the husband kindly said goodbye to his sons while leaving the house after a fight, one son loudly remarked, “Nice, finally poop [name] is leaving.”

Even after entering the camp for filming, the eldest son used informal language and cursed at his father, who kindly asked if he had eaten, asking, “Who are you?” He even hit and pushed his father when he entered the room.

The husband stated that the children have been behaving this way for about two years.

The cast was horrified by the children’s behavior and the wife’s actions, which appeared to be emotional abuse.

The first reason for the wife’s deep hatred was the husband’s infidelity. While the wife was pregnant, the husband cheated with other women via a chatting app. His excuse was a shocking one: “I couldn’t have a physical relationship with my wife because she was pregnant.”

An even bigger issue was the husband’s gambling addiction. He was once a reliable provider running a delivery agency with monthly profits of 10 million won, but he fell into gambling in 2023. Starting with a few million won, he eventually gambled hundreds of millions, taking out loans to fund his habit. He even borrowed money from his wife and her family, leaving them in debt, and eventually quit his business.

Although the husband claimed he would quit gambling starting last September, he struggled to break free from the addiction and relapsed.

After receiving couple’s counseling, the wife burst into tears of guilt, admitting she “neglected the children too much,” while the husband vowed, “I must quit gambling. I can never do it again.”
