Rain, the husband of actress Kim Tae Hee, has captured fans’ attention by sharing some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about his trademark looks and physique.
On the May 13 broadcast of SBS Radio’s ‘Cultwo Show’ in the ‘Special Guest’ corner, Rain appeared as a guest to showcase his honest charm while promoting his recent new song. Joining special DJ Hwang Chi Yeul, he candidly opened up about everything from considering plastic surgery before his debut to the realistic reasons why he has to be so strict with his body management.
First, Rain shared an anecdote about how his monolid eyes, which are now widely loved, almost disappeared. Recalling his pre-debut days, he revealed, “At the time, my eyes looked quite swollen, so J.Y. Park suggested that I get double eyelid surgery and surgery to pull my ears back before debuting.” Following the direct suggestion of his agency head, he almost went under the knife and even visited a clinic, but he was able to keep his current face thanks to an unexpected diagnosis from the doctor.
Regarding the situation, he explained, “The doctor consulting me made a conscientious confession, saying, ‘This boy must not have surgery.'” The doctor praised Rain’s eyes and ears as “million-dollar” features, advising that “the moment you touch the eyes, the harmony is broken, and you’d have to touch the nose, mouth, and chin as well.” Rain expressed his gratitude, saying, “It couldn’t have been easy for a doctor who needs to make a profit to make that decision, but thanks to that very famous person’s firm words, I was able to give up on the surgery.”
Beyond his looks, Rain also opened up about the struggles of maintaining his perfect muscular physique. Contrary to his reputation as a fitness fanatic, he hinted that he chose exercise for survival. He confessed, “I have a genetic risk for diabetes in my family,” and lamented, “In order to enjoy the foods I want to eat, I’m in a situation where I must increase my muscle mass to raise my metabolism.”
Currently leading his own path after establishing his one-person agency, Rain Company, Rain once again proved his presence as a singer by releasing his new single ‘FEEL IT’ on the 11th.
