Lee Mu-jin's Unexpected School Days: He Used to Crack His Voice in Front of Teacher Kwon Jin-won!

We’re getting a glimpse into the school days of the “master vocalist” Lee Mu-jin!

Today (15th) at 8:30 PM, KBS Joy’s ‘이십세기 힛-트쏭’ (20th Century Hit Song) episode 313 will air with the theme “I’m the teacher and you’re the student! Music Industry Teachers Hit Song.”

The episode will feature Kwon Jin-won’s “살다 보면” (If You Live), a healing song loved for its sweet melody, calm tone, and comforting lyrics. It is said that Kwon Jin-won reached a new turning point as a pop singer through this track.

Kwon Jin-won, a leading female singer-songwriter in the folk scene, served as an adjunct professor at Kyung Hee University’s Department of Postmodern Music and later as a full-time professor at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, producing many star students. Among them, the “youthful sensibility singer-songwriter” Lee Mu-jin will be introduced, catching everyone’s attention.

When Lee Mu-jin’s video was shown, Lee Mi-joo couldn’t hide her surprise, repeatedly shouting “Wow,” while Kim Hee-chul joked, “The staff asked if I knew Lee Mu-jin, but of course I do,” making everyone laugh.

Lee Mu-jin, who entered the Seoul Institute of the Arts in 2020, reportedly received one-on-one lessons from Kwon Jin-won. However, a secret was revealed: unlike his confident stage presence, he felt incredibly small in front of his teacher and often suffered from voice cracks during lessons.

Despite this, Kwon Jin-won highly praised his musical talent, saying he reminds her of a young Yoon Do-hyun. Even after graduation, Lee Mu-jin continued their strong bond by remaking his teacher’s representative song, “살다 보면” (If You Live).

Meanwhile, a song by the “model student” Lee Mu-jin that left his professors bewildered will be revealed. It is his self-composed “과제곡” (Assignment Song), submitted as a college project. Kim Hee-chul was impressed, saying, “It’s unique. If I were the professor, I’d give it a high score.” In fact, Lee Mu-jin received an A+ for this assignment.

The “과제곡” (Assignment Song) gained an explosive response after being posted on social media, recording over 7.3 million views. It has reportedly become a must-listen track for college students during exam periods.
