Entertainer Kim Sook has successfully wrapped up her epic journey of remodeling a 230-pyeong abandoned house in Jeju, a project she dedicated herself to for over a year.
On the 16th, Kim Sook shared photos of the completed “Sook House” on her SNS, writing, “Thanks to your concerns, a beautiful house of cultural heritage quality has been completed. Our members are the best for making time in their busy broadcasting schedules to rush over here.”
The photos reveal a home that perfectly captures the unique charm of Jeju. Traditional wooden doors, a thatched roof, and stone walls blend naturally with a modern interior, creating a peaceful atmosphere. A citrus tree and a swing in the yard add a cute, cozy touch.

This project was more than just building a celebrity’s second home; it was a grueling battle against administrative bureaucracy. Because the thatched house required permission for changes from the National Heritage Administration, an unimaginable amount of time and significant funds were invested to get the approval.
The most painful part was that regulations were eased just as the remodeling was nearly finished. For Kim Sook, who struggled while honestly following every legal procedure, it was hard to hide her feelings of emptiness and bitterness. This situation highlights a lack of risk management, where poorly timed, patchwork deregulation caused unnecessary hardship for the participant.
Despite this, Kim Sook expressed gratitude instead of resentment. She shared her loyal thoughts, saying, “The unpredictable production crew worked so hard. It’s almost impossible to run a program for a year in today’s broadcasting industry, but I’m grateful that everyone stayed joyful through every moment.”
Now, Kim Sook is sparking anticipation by announcing that she will gather public opinions on how to meaningfully utilize the space on days when the members are not using it.
Everyone is now curious to see how “Sook House,” completed despite the suffocating regulations, will evolve into a warm space for communication.
