A heartbreaking story of a husband staying by his terminally ill wife’s side until the end is set to bring viewers to tears.
Airing on the 18th, MBC’s ‘Oh Eun-young Report’ will feature a special titled ‘Again, Love’ for Family Month. This two-part series is a 2026 version of the ‘Love’ series, produced by the same team behind the legendary ‘Human Documentary Love’ that once touched the entire nation. It aims to explore the essence of love through stories of families who refuse to let go of each other despite unexpected tragedies.
The protagonists of Part 1 are the ‘PUBG couple,’ who previously went viral online. The husband had gained attention for recruiting users in an online community to intentionally let his terminally ill, game-loving wife “kill” them in the game. At the time, many gamers voluntarily participated in the event, creating a deeply moving moment that was even featured in the news. This broadcast will reveal what has happened since then.
After five years of a happy marriage, the couple was hit with the devastating news of terminal stomach cancer. The husband shared the shock, stating, “Seven months after the birth of our second child, my wife went to the emergency room with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with peritoneal metastasis of stomach cancer. They told us 80% of her colon had necroticized and her organs were hardened like stone.” He noted there were no warning signs before the emergency room visit. Recalling the diagnosis, he said, “The doctor told me that treatment was impossible within the realm of human medicine and that today or tomorrow could be her last.”
The husband confessed that after the game event ended, he tore up the waiver for life-sustaining treatment because of his wife’s single plea: “I want to live.” However, her condition continues to worsen over time. Enduring repeated surgeries and extreme pain, the wife has been relying on narcotic painkillers for three months, calmly sharing her inner thoughts that “it might be better to be reborn.”
Watching this, the husband eventually turns away to wipe his tears. During filming, the wife even had to undergo an emergency procedure, leading the husband to weep uncontrollably, pleading, “Please hold on, stay strong.” Watching the scene, Jang Dong-min and Moon Se-yoon also burst into tears, and Dr. Oh Eun-young sobbed, saying, “Not all couples can do this. I hope with all my heart that a miracle happens.”
