Actor Kim Young-ok has received more heartbreaking news. After enduring long-term family struggles, she is now facing the loss of her lifelong partner.
According to her agency on the 17th, former announcer Kim Young-il passed away due to a prolonged illness at the age of 89. Kim Young-ok is reportedly staying at the funeral home as the chief mourner alongside her children and grandchildren.
The late Kim Young-il was widely loved for his professional hosting and polished image during his time as a KBS announcer. He and Kim Young-ok first met through the broadcasting club at Chung-Ang University and married in 1960, building a family with one son and two daughters.
Last year, Kim Young-ok touched many fans’ hearts by opening up about her family’s hardships on a broadcast. She revealed that she has been caring for her grandson for eight years after he was seriously injured in a drunk driving accident.
The grandson was diagnosed with paraplegia after suffering a severe spinal injury caused by an unlicensed drunk driver, leading to a long road of treatment and care. Kim Young-ok shared her desperate hope for her family, saying, “I just hope my grandson can hold on.”
