A more thrilling “pure purpose dating show” is on its way!
On the morning of the 22nd, an online press conference for KBS2’s ‘Nuna is a Woman to Me 2’ was held. PD Park Jin-woo, Han Hye-jin, Jang Wooyoung (2PM), and DinDin attended the event.
‘Nuna is a Woman to Me 2’ is a dating reality program featuring the romance between “nunas” (older women) who haven’t found love yet because they were focused on their careers, and younger men who believe age is just a number when it comes to love.
While Season 1 received positive reviews, the ratings were a bit disappointing, peaking at around 1%. Because of this, the production team has been working hard to level up.
PD Park confidently stated, “If Season 1 was about introducing the concept, Season 2 adds more stimulation and dopamine to make it more intuitive and immersive. Since the cast is crucial for dating shows, we recruited people who express their emotions directly.”
In Season 2, Han Hye-jin and Jang Wooyoung, who were active in Season 1, will team up once again.
PD Park praised them, saying, “Han Hye-jin is a successful Nuna that any younger man would want to meet and have expectations for. She is the face of our program. Jang Wooyoung has a great love for the show, and his wit is at its peak.”
Adding to the mix is PD Park’s secret weapon, DinDin, who brings authenticity to the show with his “unfiltered honest remarks.”
PD Park added, “DinDin’s attitude and way of speaking are unpretentious. I felt he would bring a different color to the program, and we needed the perspective of a younger brother who grew up being teased by two older sisters, even though he’s great at flirting.”
DinDin shared, “I was curious about the fresh format during Season 1 and thought the dopamine levels would be high. I was actually invited as a guest, but I couldn’t go because of my schedule. I participated because I preferred older women when I was young and wanted to relive those memories and experience vicarious satisfaction. Watching the VCR clips made me feel like I went back 10 years, which was fun.”
Currently, countless dating shows for non-celebrities are capturing viewers’ attention. However, as more participants leave their original jobs to enter the entertainment industry or become influencers after gaining fame through these shows, doubts about “authenticity” have arisen. Many shows disappear without a trace unless they are top-tier programs like ‘Heart Signal’, ‘Transit Love’, ‘I am Solo’, or ‘Single’s Inferno’. ‘Nuna is a Woman to Me 2’ claims to have a strong competitive edge in this regard.
Han Hye-jin mentioned, “Ko So-hyun, who appeared in Season 1, told me, ‘I never imagined I’d actually fall in love here. This place was a strange, different world.’ I’m usually quite skeptical, and I wondered if they really fell in love, but I’ve now heard vivid testimony.” DinDin added, “When I watch other dating shows, some people seem to have motives other than finding true love, which makes it hard to immerse myself. But in ‘Nuna is a Woman to Me’, I can feel the authenticity of the participants going ‘all-in’ regardless of their image. At the production team’s request, I intentionally didn’t watch Season 1, but the development is so fast that the dopamine hits like a Short-form video, which is great.”
‘Nuna is a Woman to Me 2’ will premiere on the 23rd at 10:40 PM.
Han Hye-jin jokingly remarked, “In this day and age, it’s not easy to get consecutive seasons. I hope older-woman, younger-man romance becomes the trend and the show goes up to Season 14. I strongly recommend Kim Sook and Hong Jin-kyung, who has ‘been there’, to appear. Pungja and I are also on the show.”
