Actor Kim Dong-wook has shared the behind-the-scenes story of his marriage to his wife, Stella Kim.
On the 25th, a video featuring Kim Dong-wook and Chae Jung-an as guests was released on the ‘Zzanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’ YouTube channel.
Kim Dong-wook, who tied the knot in December 2023 with Stella Kim, a former SM Entertainment trainee, revealed, “Our dating period was quite short. We had our formal family meeting just seven months after meeting, and we even spent four months in a long-distance relationship.”
He continued, “My wife was in New Jersey, USA, while I was in Korea, so we spent four months apart. When she came to Korea on vacation, we spent three months together and then immediately had the family meeting. That’s how we set the wedding date. In the end, we got married just one year and three months after we started dating.”
Regarding their wedding at Myeongdong Cathedral, he explained, “We share the same religion. It was especially meaningful because my parents-in-law also held their wedding at Myeongdong Cathedral.” Kim Dong-wook also shared a special memory, adding, “Our first date was also at Myeongdong Cathedral. We didn’t plan to go there, but while we were driving through Myeongdong, we heard there was a famous cathedral and decided to visit.”
Now a father to one daughter with Stella Kim, he showed his soft side as ‘Dad Kim Dong-wook,’ saying, “Looking at my child makes me laugh a lot, and I’ve noticed I speak more gently.” He also joked about the reality of parenting, mentioning the term ‘Hwakance’ (a portmanteau of ‘toilet’ and ‘vacation’). “When you’re raising a child, you often find yourself saying, ‘I’m just going to the bathroom for a second,’ and then you just sit there on your phone,” he shared.
